Exactitudes

AGH!!!! I love this body of work, and the way it's presented in this site. Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek have been working together since 1994, collecting the widest array of subcultures and their clothes. The categorization is quite amazing... I could look at this for days.

Top Words of 2009

So, the Global Language Monitor scans media and the Internet (now including social media and blogs) for the top phrases / words of 2009. "The words tracked in relation to frequency, contextual usage and appearance in global media outlets, factoring in long-term trends, short-term changes, momentum and velocity." This stuff fascinates me for some reason. The top 3 words?

1. Twitter
2. Obama
3. H1N1

Bubole

So, I've been pretty obsessed with monsters ever since my 2nd grade teacher (which was my mom, by the way) would have a monster themed birthday for me every year. Well, Bubole gives you the opportunity to make your own monster, duel other monsters or simply just squash bugs.

Barry Underwood

So, long exposure photographs have become quite a trend lately, but Barry Underwood's recent body of work really strikes a chord with me. These photographs, illuminating the pulse of traditional landscapes, are apparently painstaking to set up, and the craftsmanship behind them is quite astonishing. Honestly, they kind of freak me out...... and I love it.

PACT and the Office of Eden

PACT is a new kind of organic underwear designed by the fantastic, Yves Behar (designer of the XO laptop). I really appreciate the conscious attention to something we wouldn't think as being "green." What's even more amazing is this promotional video, titled "The Office of Eden," created by Terri Timely Studios.

Choose Your Own Adventure

Okay, I'm a huge, huge, huge fan of Choose Your Own Adventure books, where each time you read the book, you can potentially have a completely different experience. I really admire their flexibility of the book medium, and I always wanted to make some form of an information graphic outlining the paths one could take. Well, someone did it! And, animated it! And, I love it!

The PUMA Index

So, I've been following this on my iPhone for quite some time now, but PUMA has released a site companion to the PUMA Index. The idea is simple, the more the stock market goes down, the more clothes their models remove. It's a pretty clever idea, and reaaaaaaaally catches my interest in the stock market!

Domino Wall

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, one thousand seven-and-a-half foot tall dominoes were painted by school children and artists all around the world. The result: a gnarly form of large scale Domino Rally!!!!

Mythmakers

Here's a little microsite I made for an exhibition curated by my good friend, Megan Mantia, with the Urban Culture project! See the opening of Mythmakers on November 20th!

Jim Carrey

Okay, so I must say, the new Jim Carrey site that was just released is really, really, really insane. Created by 65 Media, the space has a giant myriad of Carrey related things living together in harmony and absolute chaos at the SAME TIME.

Mindflex

Uh.... this game seems pretty crazy. So, what's the point? Well, you use your thoughts to elevate the ball, and use a knob to control it's a lateral position. The harder you think about something, the higher the fan blows the ball. Man, toys are getting insane.

Urban Cursor

I. Love. This. Project. And, yes, it's because I'm desperately in love and will probably marry the idea of arrows one day. But, in the mean time I can just salivate over projects that deal with arrows. This is pretty cool. Placed in Figueres, Catalunya, the Urban Cursor was moved around by any passerby willing to participate. What's cool is that there was a GPS device embedded into it communicating with a map that tracked its positioning, similar to a computer.

glitchscape

glitchscape is a super cool sound / visual experiment allowing the user to create boxes on the screen and then have them played back with some tonal value.
